Benchtop Labs is an open-source evaluation registry and benchmark directory created to help developers discover focused, well-maintained software that installs reliably.
1. Purpose of the Directory
Benchtop Labs evaluates open-source software against objective, reproducible checks: license presence, package builds, clean installation into fresh virtual environments, active commit history, and test runner results. All evaluations are published as transparent diagnostics.
2. Open Source Licenses & Author Attribution
Every evaluated tool on Benchtop Labs remains the intellectual property of its respective author(s) and is distributed under its declared open source license (such as MIT, Apache 2.0, or BSD). Benchtop Labs does not claim ownership or authorship of upstream projects. Author attributions and direct links to official repositories are prominently displayed on every spec tag page.
3. Diagnostic Disclaimer (“As-Is”)
Bench check results reflect automated verification runs executed at specific timestamps under standardized test configurations. While we strive for rigorous reproducible testing, automated passes do not constitute an absolute guarantee of suitability for any specific commercial or production architecture. All evaluated software is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, as stipulated by their respective open source licenses.
4. Community Submissions & Conduct
As community submissions open, submitted projects must comply with open-source licensing standards and must not contain malicious payloads, malware, crypto-mining routines, or deceptive packaging. Benchtop Labs reserves the right to decline or remove projects that violate these standards or engage in package spoofing.
